“The future is now!”
This is a quote we have seen being shared jokingly since the beginning of technology. However, this statement can now be said with confidence as social media is overtaking the business world. Social media is defining the future of marketing for businesses, but sadly, we see this gift being majorly underutilized, or worse, not used at all.
Among the social media world, there is one platform that stands out, Twitter. Twitter was launched in 2006 and has been growing exponentially ever since. What does this mean to the business world? Well, Twitter serves as a window for a business to market their brand, build relationships, and provide lightning fast customer service all from the same place. However, it is important for a business to use twitter correctly. With this in mind, here are four tips to maximize your business’s Twitter success.
Brand Your Business Positively
A common misconception among businesses in the Twitter world is that Twitter is an advertising platform. While twitter holds value in advertising, it is a “social” media platform – Have conversations! Nobody wants to connect with a business that is only trying to sell products, that is a rookie mistake that we see all too often. Social media should be an inlet for a business (or business owner) to show their audience the personality behind their brand. This will grant credibility within a business and will create brand loyalty within that business’s community.
Provide Great Customer Service
“…Customer satisfaction is the one measure that can tell you if you’re delivering on your brand promise or falling short…”
Quoted from a recent study conducted by Market Force, which highlighted the importance of customer service shining through an endless void of other factors in the business world. Customer service is exploding in growth nowadays, mostly due to the rise of social media. Social media is providing an opportunity for a customer to speak directly to a business, and on Twitter specifically, customers expect responses – quickly. It is important for a business to acknowledge this and ensure they are answering all inquiries in a timely manner, because that is ultimately what customers are looking for.
Create and Share Quality Content
Outside of having conversations and providing customer service, Twitter provides businesses with an enormous opportunity to share their content to a sea of individuals who want to see it, but keep in mind that a deciding factor in the success of a content campaign on twitter is whether or not the content is worthy enough to be shared or Twitter’s case, “retweeted”. It is important for a business to analyze their community’s interests and build their content accordingly. All while promoting it in a way that will encourage readers to share it with their followers.
Track Your Twitter Analytics
Twitter Analytics is a little-known feature provided by Twitter that allows the tracking of tweets, mentions, and followers. This provides businesses a huge leg-up in the Twitter universe, because it allows a business to see what they did that worked well and – more importantly – what didn’t. Again, knowing what content does well within the community can be a deciding factor in the well-being of a business’s Twitter adventures.
