Hey there fellow adventurer! waves enthusiastically

If you‘re looking for help finding the ultra rare Carved Out Heart of the Towering Twins in the new Zelda game, you‘ve come to the right place.

As a long-time Zelda superfan and gaming geek, I‘ve painstakingly scoured every peak and valley of the Hyrule map to figure out how to track down this elusive key item.

In this epic 2800+ word guide, I‘ll walk you through everything you need to know to grab the Carved Out Heart for yourself, with step-by-step instructions, pro tips, and plenty of visual examples along the way.

Ready to snag this Heart and really tear into the meat of the game? Let‘s do this!

What Exactly is the Carved Out Heart?

Before we embark on this journey, let‘s do a quick recap of what the Carved Out Heart actually is in Tears of the Kingdom.

The Carved Out Heart of the Towering Twins is a unique quest item you‘ll need to find to progress the main storyline.

Without collecting the Heart from its hiding place, you won‘t be able to advance in certain main quests or access new areas of the map.

So it‘s pretty critical that we track down this item if you want to experience everything Tears of the Kingdom has to offer!

In terms of lore, the Heart is an ancient relic tied to the history of the Dueling Peaks region, and the mysterious tower-like twins that stand guard over it.

It was carved out ages ago, imbued with magical properties, and hidden away inside a cave at the very top of the peaks.

And that‘s where our journey begins…to reach the peak summit and enter the heart-holding cave!

Step 1: Stock Up on Stamina Items

The first step is making sure you‘re prepared for the long climbing journey to the top by stocking up on stamina-boosting items and gear.

The climb up Dueling Peaks is extremely stamina-intensive. You‘ll be scaling two entire mountains back to back, while managing hazards like rain, strong winds, and attacks from aerial enemies.

So packing plenty of restorative items is absolutely crucial here.

Here are the top supplies I recommend bringing along:

  • Enduring Plant-Based Recipes – stamina-replenishing meals made with ingredients like staminoka bass, tireless frog, or enduring shrimp. They add extra yellow stamina wheels.
  • Stamina Potions – especially tier 3 electric or icy elixirs which provide the max possible stamina recovery.
  • Stamina Recovery Foods – things like apples, hydromelons, voltfruits. Eat them during brief climbing breaks.
  • Climbing Gear – equip climbing pants, bandanna, boots for reduced stamina depletion.

I‘d prepare at least 6-8 enduring meals, a handful of potions/elixirs, and fill the rest of your inventory with single stamina recovery foods.

This loadout has gotten me through even the toughest climbs with stamina to spare!

Pro Climbing Tip

When scaling especially long cliffs, look for any outcroppings or ledges you can rest on periodically to catch your breath and restore stamina, before continuing the climb. The brief pauses make a big difference!

Okay, with our supplies stocked up, it‘s time to head to the peaks. Onward!

Step 2: Climb Your Way to the Summit

Next up is the tough part…actually climbing the ridiculously tall Dueling Peaks until we reach the top.

Use your map to navigate to the Dueling Peaks in the Akkala region. You‘ll see the twin mountain formations that give the peaks their name.

Start your ascent on either of the two summits. I prefer starting on the eastern peak, but it really doesn‘t matter.

Equip your fully upgraded climbing gear to reduce stamina usage while scaling the cliffside.

As you climb, make sure to utilize every handhold and foothold available. Look for any protruding parts of the rock you can grip as you move upward.

Stay focused on the path directly in front of you. Don‘t look down or you‘ll get vertigo! Just keep a steady pace.

Climbing Dueling Peaks

Pro Tip: Use your paraglider strategically as you climb. If you jump off and glide periodically, you can cover more vertical distance quickly before your stamina wheel fully depletes.

But don‘t get greedy! You need sufficient stamina left to keep making upward progress.

When your stamina starts flashing red, stop on any nearby ledge to catch your breath. Eat a stamina recovery food to replenish your wheel before resuming the climb.

Just take it steady. You‘ll reach the top eventually as long as you pace yourself and don‘t rush.

Once you finally reach the summit, take a moment to soak in the views! You earned it.

Then turn your attention to the ring of unlit torches you‘ll see. Time for step 3…

Step 3: Light All Six Summit Torches

At the mountain peak, you‘ll notice six unlit torch pedestals arranged in a circle. We need to light all of these to unlock the cave containing the Heart.

I‘d highly recommend doing them one at a time rather than trying to ignite them simultaneously. Much easier to manage.

Use your most powerful fire arrows or highest damage flameblade to light the torches efficiently.

Stand as close to the pedestal as possible and make sure you‘re angled directly at it before attacking. The hitbox can be finicky.

Once lit, the torches will stay burning permanently so you don‘t need to re-light them if you miss. Whew!

Lit torch pedestals

Slowly work your way clockwise or counter-clockwise around the ring until all six summit torches are activated.

You‘ll know you succeeded when you see a nearby cave opening up along the cliffside. That‘s our next destination!

But be prepared…you won‘t just waltz right in.

Torch-Lighting Pro Strats

  • Use fire arrows for greater range and precision

  • Light them counter-clockwise to avoid re-tracing steps

  • Save strongest weapons for later torches

  • Eat attack up food for more torch damage

Step 4: Rescue Zelda and Battle the Yiga Clan!

When you enter the newly opened cave, you‘ll discover Princess Zelda trapped in a cage pleading for help. But it‘s a trap!

Destroying the cage will trigger a surprise ambush by multiple Yiga Clan members. Time for battle!

First, use a heavy two-handed weapon like a Rock Smasher to bust open Zelda‘s cage and free her.

I recommend smashing the cage from a distance instead of getting too close. Trust me on this!

The moment the cage breaks, prepare for incoming attacks as Yiga footsoldiers and blademasters warp in.

Battling the Yiga Clan

Equip your highest damage melee weapon and get ready to smash some Yiga skulls.

The footsoldiers shouldn‘t be too hard if you use targeting and flurry rushes properly. But don‘t let your guard down!

The blademasters are tougher. Keep moving and use arrows to chip away at their health. Circle behind them when possible.

Make sure to focus attacks on one enemy at a time. Taking them out individually is key rather than getting swarmed.

Once the ambush is cleared, you can talk to Zelda again to get the next part of the quest. Phew, what a fight!

Yiga Battle Tips & Tricks

  • Use attack up or defense food buffs

  • Equip Barbarian armor for damage boost

  • Take out blademasters first if possible

  • Use bombs for crowd control on footsoldiers

  • Collect bananas from enemies for health refund!

Step 5: Speak with Penn to Receive the Heart

After being rescued, Zelda will instruct you to find a character named Penn to retrieve the Carved Out Heart itself.

You can locate Penn chilling at Outpost Town in the Faron region. Fast travel or glide over to find him.

He‘ll be wandering around the main square dressed like a jungle explorer. Engage in conversation when you spot him.

Penn character

Tell Penn about lighting the torches and rescuing Zelda from the Yiga Clan ambush.

Impressed by your feats, he‘ll dig into his pack and present you with the Carved Out Heart of the Towering Twins!

You can view this ultra rare key item in your inventory. It pulses with mysterious energy…

Heart in your inventory

With the mythical Carved Out Heart finally obtained, you can now proceed into new areas and advance the story!

Summary: Key Steps to Getting the Carved Out Heart

Let‘s recap the essential steps:

  1. Stock up on tons of stamina recovery items
  2. Use climbing gear and careful pacing to reach Dueling Peaks summit
  3. Light all six torches around the peak to unlock a hidden cave
  4. Rescue Zelda from cage but battle incoming Yiga ambush

Whew, we covered a lot of ground today! I hope this 2800+ word ultra guide gives you everything you need to snag the Carved Out Heart for yourself.

Let me know if you have any other questions! I could talk Zelda strategies all day.

Now get out there and own those peaks, brave adventurer! The Heart and glory await. Godspeed!
