Hey there crypto enthusiast! Have you heard about Trust Wallet‘s DApp browser that gives you easy access to decentralized apps right from your mobile? If you own an Android phone, enabling this browser is a breeze. But for iPhone users, it requires some extra hoops to jump through.

In this detailed guide, I‘ll be sharing my insider knowledge as a blockchain technology geek on how to get the Trust Wallet DApp browser working seamlessly on both Android and iOS.

Trust me, it‘s worth the effort to unlock the full potential of your crypto wallet app! So grab a hot cup of coffee and let‘s dig in.

What is Trust Wallet and Why Does the DApp Browser Matter?

Trust Wallet is one of my personal favorite cryptocurrency wallets launched in 2017 that later got acquired by Binance in 2018. It‘s a secure and easy-to-use mobile wallet that allows you to store, send, receive, trade, and stake coins and tokens.

But what sets Trust Wallet apart is its built-in DApp browser. For those unfamiliar, DApp stands for Decentralized Application.

DApps are blockchain-powered apps that offer financial services, games, social networks, and more. The key difference from regular apps is that DApps operate transparently without any central control.

Some major benefits of DApps include:

  • Censorship resistance
  • Maintain user privacy
  • Allow community governance
  • Offer transparency
  • Grant users control of their own data

Popular categories of DApps are DeFi, NFTs, exchanges, identity, storage, gaming, media, etc.

Now instead of having to download a different app for each DApp you want to use, the Trust Wallet DApp browser gives you direct access to all these DApps in one place.

It makes using decentralized apps super seamless. You can easily browse DApps, connect your wallet to authorize transactions, and manage your crypto assets across multiple DApps efficiently.

According to DappRadar‘s 2022 industry report, $182 billion flowed through various decentralized applications and 3 million new users joined in 2022.

Clearly, DApps are gaining tremendous adoption. So having DApp browsing capabilities built into your crypto wallet itself is extremely convenient.

Let‘s see how to get it working…

Enabling DApp Browser on Trust Wallet (Android)

If you‘re an Android user, enabling the DApp browser is very straightforward:

Step 1) Download Trust Wallet App

First, download Trust Wallet app on your Android phone (6.0 or higher) from the Google Play store.

Step 2) Open the App

Launch the app and log into your existing wallet or create a new wallet if you‘re just starting out.

Step 3) Go to Settings

Tap on the Settings icon at the bottom right corner of the app. This will open the Settings page.

Step 4) Tap on Preferences

Under Settings, look for and tap on the Preferences option.

Step 5) Toggle on DApp Browser

Within Preferences you‘ll see DApp Browser. Tap on it and toggle the switch on the next screen to enable it.

That‘s it! The Trust Wallet DApp browser is now enabled on your Android phone.

Step 6) Access the DApp Browser

You can now access the DApp browser by tapping the Browser icon in the bottom toolbar of the Trust Wallet app.

It‘s that simple for Android folks to start browsing and using DApps right within Trust Wallet. No headaches here!

How to Get DApp Browser Working on iPhone

Now for iPhone users, unfortunately Trust had to remove the DApp browser from their iOS app.

This happened in June 2021 due to App Store guidelines.

But don‘t worry, I‘ve discovered two clever workarounds to re-enable DApp browsing capabilities on your iPhone…

Method 1: Using Safari Browser

This method involves using the Safari browser app on your iPhone:

Step 1) Open Safari

Launch Safari and open a new browser tab. Ensure your device is connected to the internet.

Step 2) Type trust://browser_enable in URL bar

In the URL bar, enter trust://browser_enable and press Go.

Step 3) Tap Open when prompted

A popup will appear asking permission to open the Trust app. Tap Open.

Step 4) Access DApps in Trust Wallet

This will launch the Trust Wallet app with the DApp browser now enabled. Tap the browser icon at the bottom to start accessing DApps!

Method 2: Using WalletConnect on a DApp Site

This method connects Trust Wallet by scanning a QR code on a DApp site:

Step 1) Visit PancakeSwap site

On Safari, go to PancakeSwap website.

Step 2) Tap Connect wallet

Tap Connect wallet on the top right corner.

Step 3) Select WalletConnect

From the wallet list, choose WalletConnect.

Step 4) Choose Trust Wallet

Pick Trust Wallet option from the list.

Step 5) Tap Open on the prompt

A popup will show, tap Open to launch Trust Wallet.

Step 6) Scan QR code

In Trust Wallet, tap Connect to scan the QR code and link to PancakeSwap.

The DApp browser is now enabled. Tap the browser icon to start using DApps on iPhone!

Why Removing DApp Browser was Necessary for iOS App

You might be wondering – why did Trust have to remove the DApp browser from their iOS app in the first place?

Well, this move was necessary to comply with the following Apple App Store guidelines:

Guideline 2.5.2 – Apps should use APIs and frameworks for their intended purposes only.

Guideline 2.5.6 – Apps cannot facilitate illegal transactions or encourage unlawful behavior.

The DApp browser provides unfiltered access to DApps. Some DApps could potentially violate those guidelines.

So to adhere to Apple‘s policies, Trust had no choice but to remove the browser from their iOS app.

Of course, Android users can still access the browser seamlessly within the Trust Wallet app itself. It‘s just us iPhone folks who need the workarounds.

But not to worry – the methods I‘ve outlined in this guide should help you get DApp browsing capabilities up and running on your iPhone again.

The Doors to the Decentralized World Are Open!

Phew, that was quite a detailed walkthrough! But I hope you now have clarity on how to enable the Trust Wallet DApp browser on both Android and iOS.

It definitely takes more effort on iPhone compared to Android. But having access to DApps right within your crypto wallet opens up tremendous possibilities.

You can explore and engage with various DeFi protocols, NFT marketplaces, DEXs, blockchain games, prediction markets, DAOs, and much more!

It unlocks the true potential of Trust Wallet as your gateway to the growing world of decentralized apps and finance.

So what are you waiting for? Try out these methods and let me know if you have any other tips or questions! I‘m always happy to help out a fellow crypto and DApp enthusiast.

Here‘s to diving headfirst into the fascinating world of decentralized applications!
