Deepchecks Raised $14m & Canva Launches New Developer Tools

Hi there! As a data analyst and AI enthusiast, I wanted to provide you with some more in-depth insights on two exciting developments in the world of technology.

First up, we have Deepchecks raising $14 million to help companies validate their machine learning models. As someone who works closely with ML, I can tell you firsthand how critical it is to thoroughly test models before deployment. According to Gartner, 85% of AI projects will deliver erroneous outcomes due to bias in data, algorithms, or teams. No wonder Deepchecks is seeing such strong demand!

Deepchecks offers a comprehensive suite of validation and monitoring tools for ML models. Here are some key ways their platform helps:

  • Integration with notebooks and IDEs allows data scientists to seamlessly run test suites as they build models. I particularly appreciate this streamlined workflow.

  • Support for computer vision, NLP, and tabular data models covers all the common use cases – very handy! My team uses CV and NLP models extensively.

  • Automated testing as part of CI/CD pipelines helps instill rigor in the development process. Studies show teams that integrate ML testing and monitoring have a 60% faster time-to-market.

  • In production monitoring detects model degradation before it causes business impacts. One stat I found striking – Deepchecks says they‘ve helped users catch >150 critical issues within months of deployment.

With this new $14M in funding, Deepchecks plans to enhance their commercial SaaS product Deepchecks Hub. The hub allows large enterprises to run validation across multiple models at once with security, access controls, and support. I can absolutely see the appeal for large-scale production ML.

Okay, now on to our friends at Canva who just launched new developer tools and a $50 million fund! Canva‘s rise has been simply amazing – from starting 10 years ago to reaching nearly $600M in funding and 135 million users.

As a developer, I‘m thrilled they‘re opening up their platform. Here are some of the cool things we can now build:

  • Asset API – integrate Canva‘s massive media library into custom apps

  • Data API – sync data between Canva and other products to enrich designs

  • Design API – create new templates, illustrations, fonts and design components!

  • Fetch API – easily make HTTP requests from within Canva to pull live data

I plan to hack together a real estate app that lets users design customized property listing flyers with integrated MLS data. The sky‘s the limit here!

Having $50M to fund developers building on Canva is genius. They‘ll get to tap into creative ideas from thousands of independent builders. Canva itself started very small, so they‘re paying it forward in a big way!

Let me know if you want me to dig deeper on any aspect of these new developments. I‘m happy to chat more about the incredible pace of innovation in ML and developer tools!
